Ⅰ. Material Properties
1. PP generally refers to polypropylene. It is a polymer formed by polyaddition of propylene. It is translucent.
2. PC, polycarbonate, is a high molecular polymer containing carbonate groups in the molecular chain. It is transparent.
Ⅱ. Material Features
1. PP has chemical resistance, heat resistance, electrical insulation, high-strength mechanical properties and good high wear resistance processing properties. It is flammable and can resist corrosion from acids, alkalis, salt solutions and various organic solvents below 80°C, and can decompose under high temperature and oxidation.
2. PC is resistant to weak acid, weak alkali, neutral oil, but not to ultraviolet light and strong alkali. It has high strength and elasticity coefficient, high impact strength, and a wide range of operating temperatures. It is not hydrolytically stable enough, is sensitive to notches, has poor resistance to organic chemicals and scratches, and will turn yellow when exposed to ultraviolet light for a long time.
Ⅲ. Material uses
1. PP, as a food-grade plastic, is widely used in food packaging, such as foam plastic boxes, PP plastic cups, etc. PP injection molding is mainly used in small household appliances, toys, washing machines, auto parts, etc. PP pipe materials are mainly used in water supply and heating systems.
2. PC is widely used as an engineering plastic in glass, automobiles, electronic appliances, medical and health care, mechanical parts, packaging, computers and other fields.
As raw materials, the plastic honeycombs processed and molded by them are also different. PP has better wear resistance, but slightly inferior impact resistance and lower light transmittance. PC is the opposite, so the material is more flexible than PP. PC materials may be slightly dented when impacted, while PP materials may break. PP plastic honeycomb cores made of PP raw materials are mostly used for composite honeycomb cores, such as building material cores, car box cores, yacht structural core materials, and lightweight core materials for home decoration composite panels; PC plastic honeycomb cores made of PC raw materials are mostly used for wind curtains, ventilation systems for refrigerated display cabinets, and workbenches for laser cutting machines. Due to its light transmittance, it can also be used as indoor and outdoor partitions, roofs and other decorative panels.
